iSolation Server v.2.1 Datasheet
Tests e-mail attachments
iSolation Server® eliminates unknown and rapidly changing e-mail viruses from entering corporate
e-mail servers. It tests the actual behavior of incoming e-mail and attachments in a virtual machine
and identifies viruses for which there is no known pattern or signature. By testing messages in a virtual
machine, iSolation Server eliminates the window of vulnerability between virus outbreak and signature
update distribution. iSolation Server v. 2 delivers increased scalability for enterprise-class customers by
testing e-mail on multiple servers. In addition, iSolation Server v. 2 also features SMTP stream reporting,
which details overall volume and attachment categories of the incoming mail stream.
Outbreak Protection
-
Tests e-mail and its attachments in a virtual PC environment prior to end user
delivery by opening the e-mail and observing any unusual behavior that indicates
potentially malicious intent.
- Functions as the key element of a “layered protection” antivirus strategy. Traditional virus
scanners identify threats for which there is a pattern while iSolation Server provides
protection from new and unknown viruses.
- Blocks undetected variants and new mutations of prolific outbreak viruses —
including 100 percent effectiveness for recent unknown variants of the MyDoom,
Mimail, Bagle and Netsky viruses.
- Eliminates the window of vulnerability between virus outbreak and pattern-file
availability and distribution.
Attachment Productivity
- Eliminates the need to block all attachments from the network for security
purposes because iSolation Server observes executable e-mail attachments in a
virtual environment.
- Enables the IT administrator a higher level of attachment filtering, including the
ability to disallow specific attachment types instead of all.
- Allows for safe use of the popular .zip file format, as well as non-standard or
infrequent file types.
SMTP Stream Profiling and Virtual Delivery
- Provides e-mail content validation by ensuring the attachment MIME-type matches
the actual attachment content.
- Unzips .zip files in attachments during simulation to discover malicious activity and
allows system administrators the option to block password-protected or encrypted
.zip files.
Reporting
- Generates reports on overall volume and categories of attachments in system e-mail flow and allows filtering configuration according to specific network scenarios.
- Produces quarantined message reports detailing the unusual behavior of each
quarantined message and how iSolation Server detected it.
Ease-of-use
- Requires no additional client software, thus eliminating installation, configuration,
and management of software on individual workstations.
- Enables at-a-glance administrator inspection of e-mail execution status and allows
administrator control of quarantined e-mail deletion and forwarding.
Throughput
- Identifies clear-text messages and tags them for immediate delivery with no impact
on performance.
- Detects identical messages to limit any impact on performance during the event of
possible "e-mail storms."
Scalability
iSolation Server scales to meet the demands of enterprise networks. It directs
messages to multiple virtual machines to ensure simultaneous e-mail testing
under heavy system loads. Managing the incoming e-mail stream with multiple
virtual machines increases message throughput through iSolation Server.
