Gartner’s “Hype Cycle for Cyberthreats, 2006,” has listed Avinti as a sample anti-threat vendor in the category of malicious code variants.
Recently published on Sept. 13 with Neil MacDonald (et al.) authoring the portion on malicious code variants, the annual research document states that “Organizations must
understand the threats and their life cycle to properly implement
defensive strategies”
The Hype Cycle report states that while “hobby-based malware and cybervandalism still threaten our IT assets, financially motivated and targeted cyber attacks against an increasingly complex and externalized IT environment can result in higher damage potential.”
